A French-American hybrid grape developed by crossing ugni blanc and Seibel 4986
(another hybrid). Vidal Blanc (officially known as Vidal 256) is grown in the
eastern United States. The grapes have high sugar and good acid levels, with
nice but rather neutral flavors. The wines are vinified in a variety of styles
from dry to sweet. ice wines with good flavor and richness have been made from
frozen Vidal Blanc grapes in a style similar to German eiswein.
